Noida Kings Prepare for UP T20 League with a Strong New Squad
Excitement Grows for the Upcoming UP T20 League
Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 4: As the countdown begins for the fourth season of the UP T20 League, the Noida Kings have significantly enhanced their team lineup.
Scheduled to kick off on August 14, 2026, the league will showcase 34 matches over a span of 24 days, taking place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, as per a recent announcement.
After a meticulously planned player auction, Anuj Sharma, the owner of Noida Kings, expressed his delight with the newly formed team, highlighting that the franchise successfully achieved its strategic objectives.
“The auction was very beneficial for us. We accomplished nearly all of our set targets. When assembling a team, it’s crucial to secure strong batsmen, a reliable wicketkeeper, quality bowlers, and skilled all-rounders. Our squad has been built in line with our strategy, and now it’s time for them to deliver,” Sharma stated.
A key objective for the Noida Kings was to scout and acquire specialized T20 players. The franchise made a significant investment in Shubham Gautam, a promising talent discovered through the UPCA Speed Hunt initiative, making him their most expensive acquisition at ₹21.5 lakh.
“Signing Shubham Gautam, whom we identified during the UPCA Speed Hunt, was undoubtedly our standout choice,” Sharma elaborated. “We anticipated strong competition for him, but we were confident from the outset about securing him and Shiva Singh. We had budgeted around 25 lakhs for Shiva, but we managed to acquire him for 17.5 lakhs, which allowed us to successfully bid for Gautam. Everything fell into place perfectly.”
The newly formed Noida Kings roster features a powerful blend of seasoned players and dynamic young talent with impressive records.
The retention of star all-rounder Prashant Veer is a significant advantage for the team. Veer, who recently signed with the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, was a formidable player in the last UP T20 League season, scoring 320 runs at an impressive strike rate of 155.34 and taking eight wickets with an economy rate below seven.
He will be joined by retained left-arm pacer Naman Tiwari, who represented India in the U-19 World Cup and was a standout performer in the previous UP T20 League, taking 19 wickets and finishing among the top bowlers of the tournament.
Enhancing the batting lineup is Madhav Kaushik, who joins the Kings through a trade. Kaushik is known for his aggressive batting style and has a record of significant scores in the league. The spin department will be led by auction acquisition Shiva Singh, a former U-19 World Cup champion whose slow left-arm orthodox bowling will be vital on spin-friendly pitches.
With a well-structured team in place, the Noida Kings are now concentrating on their training camp as they gear up to vie for the coveted UP T20 League title.
