Naman Dhir Emphasizes Balance Between Fearlessness and Recklessness Ahead of IPL Clash
Naman Dhir Discusses Mindset Before IPL Match
New Delhi [India] April 16: Naman Dhir, a batter for the Mumbai Indians, has expressed the importance of distinguishing between being fearless and being reckless on the field.
“If I let the fear of failure take over, it becomes challenging to execute those crucial shots during the game. The management has reassured me of their support, encouraging me to express myself and play my natural game. However, I recognize the need to draw a line between fearlessness and recklessness, which I strive to maintain. There are numerous factors I consider before stepping onto the pitch,” Dhir shared during a pre-match press briefing.
“My role is quite defined. MJ [Mahela Jayawardene] has indicated that he will handle the death overs, and I am fulfilling my part. Except for the match where Rohit Bhai was injured, I have been batting at number three. From a fielding perspective, I am thoroughly enjoying it and aim to give my utmost effort every day, hoping to take more catches,” he added.
Dhir also mentioned that he often seeks advice from seasoned players.
“They possess a wealth of experience. I consult them on how to approach various situations. Particularly in my current position at number seven, I benefit from the insights of Hardik Bhai and Pollard, who have extensive batting experience. Their guidance helps me remain composed and effectively communicate with my team,” he noted.
The Mumbai Indians are set to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 33rd match of the IPL 2025 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Currently, MI sits seventh in the points table, having won two matches and lost four out of six. They recently secured a narrow victory against Delhi Capitals by 12 runs and are eager to build on that success as they return home.
Conversely, SRH is positioned ninth, with two wins and four losses in their six matches. They recently broke a four-match losing streak with a remarkable win over Punjab Kings, successfully chasing down 245 runs, which stands as the second-highest successful chase in IPL history.
