Rahane Discusses Green's Absence in Bowling

In the IPL 2026 match held on March 30 in Mumbai, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Captain Ajinkya Rahane responded to inquiries about Cameron Green's lack of bowling against the Mumbai Indians. Despite KKR scoring an impressive 220 runs, they fell short, losing by six wickets.

During the post-match interview, Rahane suggested that questions regarding Green's bowling should be directed to Cricket Australia, stating, "That question you need to ask Cricket Australia."

Green, who was acquired by KKR for a staggering Rs 25.20 crore, managed to score 18 runs off 10 balls but did not bowl any overs during the match.

Rahane Reflects on Team Performance

Rahane acknowledged the challenges faced by KKR's relatively inexperienced bowling lineup and praised his batting performance. He also commended Kartik Tyagi's bowling efforts.

He expressed optimism that Green would soon contribute with the ball, emphasizing the need for a balanced team. "It was really tough for the bowlers. They are inexperienced, but they will learn. We have a strong batting lineup, and this is a learning curve for us. MI batted well, and our bowlers will definitely learn from this experience. I'm pleased with my batting, and I hope Green starts bowling soon to enhance our team balance," Rahane remarked.

Pandya Celebrates Mumbai's Victory

Mumbai Indians' captain Hardik Pandya expressed his team's relief at winning their season opener for the first time since 2012. He credited the bowlers for keeping the target manageable, noting that while high scores can be daunting, 220 runs are achievable.

"It's been a long wait to win the season opener. We wanted to start strong, and the entire team is thrilled we accomplished that. In modern cricket, we understand how this wicket plays. The bowlers did well to prevent KKR from reaching 240 or 250, which would have been tough to chase," Pandya stated.

Outstanding Performances Highlight the Match

Pandya praised the exceptional batting of Rohit Sharma and Rickelton, as well as Shardul Thakur's strategic bowling. He humorously suggested that Thakur should remain with the franchise for the rest of his career.

"Rohit and Rickelton were outstanding. Watching Rohit play is always a treat. As for Thakur, I told him to stop switching teams and stay here for good. His ability to outsmart batters is brilliant," Pandya added.

In the match, Mumbai successfully chased down a target of 221 runs, marking their largest run-chase in IPL history. Rohit Sharma scored 78 runs off 38 balls, while Rickelton contributed 81 runs off 41 balls, leading the team to victory.

KKR's Strong Batting Performance

Earlier, KKR showcased a solid batting display after being asked to bat first, finishing with a total of 220/4. Rahane led the charge with a remarkable 67 runs off 40 balls, supported by Angkrish Raghuvanshi's 51 runs off 29 balls.

Finn Allen also made a significant impact with a quick 37 runs off 17 balls, while Rinku Singh added an unbeaten 33 runs off 21 balls. Despite Shardul Thakur's impressive three-wicket haul, KKR set a challenging target for Mumbai.
