Mumbai Indians Focus on Adaptability Ahead of Match Against Lucknow Super Giants
Mumbai Indians Prepare for Upcoming Challenge
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 3 (Media House): The Mumbai Indians (MI) are maintaining their composure despite the varying pitch conditions and are not overly worried about the performance of their veteran player, Rohit Sharma, according to insights from ESPNcricinfo.
In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, MI has managed to secure only one win thus far—a home victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)—while facing defeats in two away matches against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT). The team's batsmen struggled to find their footing on the slow pitches in Chennai and Ahmedabad. However, they made a strong comeback at home, dismissing KKR for a mere 116 runs.
As they prepare to face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday, MI is looking to build on their recent success. LSG has also voiced concerns regarding their home pitch conditions, with mentor Zaheer Khan openly criticizing the Lucknow curator following their match against the Punjab Kings.
MI's batting coach, Kieron Pollard, emphasized the importance of adaptability in cricket. He stated, “For us, it’s about adjusting to whatever conditions we face on a given day,” as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Pollard further explained, “As part of the management and former players, we aim to prepare for any situation. While we cannot control the pitch conditions, our ability to adapt is what defines us as world-class players.”
Rohit Sharma, who previously scored a match-winning 76 in the 2025 Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, has struggled to find his form in the IPL, with scores of 13, 8, and 0 in his last three outings, including two soft dismissals and a brilliant delivery from Mohammed Siraj.
Pollard praised Rohit, saying, “Having played alongside him since our Under-19 days, he has made a significant mark in cricket history across various formats.”
He added, “Rohit is a cricket legend, and he deserves the freedom to enjoy the game without undue pressure. Let’s not judge him based on a few low scores. Cricket is about ups and downs, and I’m confident we’ll celebrate his next big score soon.”
