Dhoni Surpasses Raina in IPL History

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 29: On Friday, former captain of Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni, achieved a remarkable milestone by overtaking Suresh Raina to become the franchise's all-time leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League (IPL).


This achievement took place during the eighth match of the ongoing 18th season of the lucrative league, held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Dhoni played a stellar innings, scoring an unbeaten 30 runs off just 16 deliveries, boasting an impressive strike rate of 187.5, which included three fours and two sixes.


At 43 years old, Dhoni now holds the record with a total of 4699 runs across 204 innings, maintaining an average of 40.50 and a strike rate of 139.43. In contrast, Raina, who has since retired, accumulated 4687 runs in 171 innings for the same team.


Other notable players in the franchise's history include Faf Du Plessis with 2721 runs in 86 innings, current captain Ruturaj Gaikwad with 2433* runs from 67 innings, and Ravindra Jadeja, who has scored 1939 runs in 127 innings. Gaikwad and Jadeja continue to represent the team, while Du Plessis has moved to Delhi Capitals as vice-captain for the current season.
