MS Dhoni Achieves 350 Sixes Milestone in T20 Cricket
Dhoni Joins Elite Club of T20 Six-Hitters
In a thrilling match on May 20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni became the fourth Indian player to hit 350 sixes in T20 cricket during a game against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Dhoni reached this remarkable milestone in the 16th over when Riyan Parag attempted to deceive him with a unique bowling style. Unfazed, Dhoni expertly launched the ball over Parag's head with sheer power.
At 43 years old, he joins an elite group of Indian cricketers, including Rohit Sharma (542 sixes), Virat Kohli (434), and Suryakumar Yadav (368). The all-time record for T20 sixes is held by Chris Gayle, who boasts an astonishing 1,056 sixes.
Dhoni's innings concluded on the second-to-last ball of the first innings when he attempted to paddle a low full toss, only for Tushar Deshpande to make a stunning catch at short fine leg. With a knowing smile, Dhoni exited the field after scoring 16 runs off 17 balls.
CSK's innings was bolstered by a rapid 43 runs from 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, who struck his runs off just 20 balls. Following his dismissal, CSK faced a mini-collapse but managed to recover with a 59-run partnership between Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis.
As CSK looked to regain momentum, Akash Madhwal dismissed Brevis (42) with a well-placed delivery. Dube showcased his hitting skills with a six but fell victim to Madhwal on the first ball of the final over.
In the end, Anshul Kamboj found the boundary, and Noor Ahmad ran two on the last ball, helping Chennai finish at 187/8, just shy of what could have been a more competitive total given the high-scoring conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
