Marsh's Stellar Performance Shines in IPL Clash

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] - On May 7, Mitchell Marsh delivered a spectacular century, complemented by late innings contributions from Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant, guiding the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to an impressive total of 209/3 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during their IPL match on Thursday night.

After a rain delay that shortened the match to 19 overs per side, Marsh showcased his batting prowess, scoring 111 runs off just 56 balls, featuring nine boundaries and an equal number of sixes.

Pooran supported well with a brisk 38 runs from 23 balls, while captain Pant finished the innings with a remarkable 32 runs off only 10 balls.

Opening the batting, Marsh and Arshin Kulkarni set the tone for LSG. Marsh quickly took charge, aggressively targeting RCB's bowlers.

Initially cautious against disciplined bowling, Marsh soon shifted gears, launching a fierce attack on the RCB bowlers. He scored 12 runs off Krunal Pandya in the fourth over and followed it up with 17 runs off Rasikh Salam Dar in the fifth.

Maintaining the momentum, Marsh hammered Josh Hazlewood for another 12 runs in the final over of the powerplay, leaving LSG at a strong 68 without loss after six overs.

The Australian all-rounder reached his half-century in a mere 20 balls, marking the fastest fifty of his IPL career.

Only Abhishek Sharma (18 balls) has a quicker fifty at Lucknow in IPL history. While Marsh dominated the RCB bowlers, Kulkarni struggled and was dismissed in the 10th over for 17 runs off 24 balls, paving the way for Pooran.

The pair formed a crucial partnership of 70 runs for the second wicket before Hazlewood dismissed Marsh for 111. Marsh's century came off just 49 balls, making it the fastest by an LSG player, surpassing Rishabh Pant's 54-ball century against RCB at the same venue last year.

Pooran was dismissed by Rasikh Salam Dar in the final over for 38, bringing Aiden Markram to the crease. Pant finished the innings in style, scoring 14 runs from the last three balls to push LSG past the 200-run mark.
