Marsh's Historic Performance

In a thrilling match held in Lucknow, Mitchell Marsh of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) achieved a remarkable milestone by scoring the fastest century in the franchise's Indian Premier League (IPL) history. His explosive innings of 111 runs off just 56 balls included nine fours and nine sixes, showcasing his dominance against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

This performance places Marsh among the top five run-scorers in LSG's history. His century is now the fifth-highest individual score for the team, following Quinton de Kock's impressive 140* against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022. Notably, Marsh and KL Rahul are the only players to have recorded multiple centuries for LSG, each with two tons.

Marsh's century, achieved in just 49 balls, surpasses the previous record held by Rishabh Pant, who scored a 54-ball century against RCB at the same venue last season.

Currently, Marsh ranks as the 12th highest run-scorer this season and leads LSG with a total of 367 runs from 10 innings, averaging 36.70 and boasting a strike rate of nearly 153, which includes one century and one half-century.

He has also surpassed Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis to become LSG's fourth-highest run-scorer overall, amassing 994 runs in 23 innings at an average of 43.21 and a strike rate of 159.55, featuring two centuries and seven fifties.

Nicholas Pooran remains LSG's top run-scorer with 1,564 runs in 53 innings, followed by KL Rahul with 1,410 runs and Ayush Badoni with 1,135 runs.

Despite Marsh's outstanding performance, LSG has only managed three wins this season, placing them at the bottom of the points table, while RCB has dropped to third after suffering their fourth defeat.

Batting first, LSG posted a total of 209/3 in a rain-shortened innings, with Marsh's century leading the charge. RCB, set a target of 213 runs via the DLS method, struggled early on but a strong partnership between Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar gave them hope. However, despite contributions from Tim David, Krunal Pandya, and Romario Shepherd, RCB fell short by nine runs.
