Marsh Commends Pant's Leadership Style

Mitchell Marsh has expressed admiration for Rishabh Pant's leadership, highlighting that the captain's willingness to accept suggestions has significantly contributed to the positive atmosphere within the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team.

The LSG squad features two international captains, Marsh and Aiden Markram.

In an interview, Marsh stated, "It's all about doing your best to support Rishabh. He is an exceptional young leader who manages his team effectively. He is always receptive to feedback and considers all input."

Marsh emphasized the importance of strong leadership within the team, stating, "We have some excellent leaders in our group, which is essential. My focus is on contributing wherever necessary." He reiterated that maintaining consistency and making a positive impact on the team are his top priorities.

He added, "I aim to stay consistent in my preparation. Last year was a successful one for me in terms of consistency, but my main goal is to positively influence the team and help us win as many matches as possible." Marsh also acknowledged the supportive roles of team owner Sanjiv Goenka and Pant in creating a nurturing environment.

He remarked, "It has been wonderful. Personally, I felt very well supported by the franchise last year, and this year feels no different. There is a lot of care within our group, and we hope to showcase how much it means to play for LSG."

Discussing his partnership with Markram, Marsh noted that their camaraderie developed organically, with both players performing well with the bat last season.

Marsh scored 627 runs, while Markram added 445 runs during IPL 2025.

Reflecting on their time together, Marsh said, "I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Aiden last year. We have faced each other many times in the past, but being on the same team allows you to truly understand someone."

He continued, "When you bat together, it's crucial to have a strong relationship both on and off the field. Last year, we became good friends and formed a reliable partnership for the franchise."

Marsh emphasized the need for adaptability in their batting approach, stating, "Some games will start well, and we had several strong power plays last year. However, we play according to the situation."

He added, "We aim to make a significant impact and get off to the best possible start, but we don't focus solely on achieving a specific number." Marsh expressed confidence in the team's preparations.

"We have an excellent coaching setup this year. There have been some personnel changes, but the coaching group has been instrumental in preparing the entire squad for the first game and the tournament," he said.

Reflecting on the conditions at their home ground, Marsh recalled the batting-friendly pitches at Ekana Stadium last season.

"I thought the wicket was excellent last year. We had several scores over 200, and it was beneficial to play seven home games and understand the conditions," he noted.

"The ground is larger than many in India, which may explain some of the lower scores. However, the pitch and ground conditions were fantastic last year, and I expect them to be similar this season," Marsh concluded.
