Lucknow Super Giants Shine in IPL Clash Against Rajasthan Royals

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India] - In a thrilling encounter on May 19, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) showcased an impressive batting display, spearheaded by Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh, to set a formidable total against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) during their IPL 2026 match in Jaipur.

Despite a brief resurgence from the RR bowlers, LSG kept their momentum intact throughout the innings, concluding with a robust score of 220/5, thanks to significant contributions from various players in the batting lineup.

Opting to bat first, LSG made a powerful start, with openers Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh propelling the team to 38 runs without loss in just three overs.

Their aggressive approach continued during the power play, as they accumulated boundaries to reach 83/0 by the end of the sixth over, marking their fourth-highest power play score of the 2026 season.

Inglis reached his half-century in the first ball of the seventh over, achieving the milestone in a mere 30 balls, marking his third fifty in IPL history. The opening duo then celebrated a 100-run partnership on the last ball of the eighth over, placing LSG in a commanding position at 105/0.

However, RR's Yash Raj Punja broke the partnership by bowling out Inglis for 60 runs off 29 balls, which included seven fours and three sixes, ending the impressive 109-run opening stand and slowing LSG's rapid start.

This 109-run partnership was the second-highest for LSG against RR for any wicket, following the 115-run third-wicket partnership between KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda in 2024.

After ten overs, LSG stood at 127/1. Mitchell Marsh then reached his half-century in just 25 balls during the 11th over.

In the 13th over, RR's Yashasvi Jaiswal struck again, claiming his second wicket by dismissing Nicholas Pooran for 16 runs, which ended the 42-run partnership with Marsh. Nevertheless, LSG continued to score freely, reaching 165/2 by the end of the 15th over.

By the end of the 18th over, LSG surpassed the 200-run mark, with skipper Rishabh Pant and Marsh forming a crucial 50-run partnership for the third wicket.

In the final over, Pant was run out after scoring 35 runs off 23 balls, while Marsh was also run out after an outstanding innings of 96 runs from 57 balls, featuring 11 fours and five sixes, leading LSG to a total of 220/5.

For RR, Yash Raj Punja took two wickets for 35 runs, while Archer claimed one wicket for 39 runs.
