Kyle Jamieson Receives Warning for Code of Conduct Breach in IPL Match
Jamieson Penalized for Conduct During Match
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], May 2: Kyle Jamieson, the pacer for Delhi Capitals (DC), has been issued a demerit point and a warning for violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct during the 43rd match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, as per an official statement from the IPL.
The IPL's announcement stated, “Kyle Jamieson, Bowler for Delhi Capitals, has received one demerit point and a warning for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 43 against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.”
The incident took place in the second over of the Royals' innings when Jamieson, after taking the wicket of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, approached him in a manner that could have incited a hostile reaction from the batter.
According to the statement, Jamieson violated Article 2.5 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to “using language, actions, or gestures that could provoke an aggressive response from another player during the match.”
Jamieson acknowledged the charge and accepted the penalty imposed by the match officials.
“Jamieson admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction from Match Referee Rajeev Seth,” the statement concluded.
In the match, a remarkable opening partnership of 110 runs between KL Rahul (75 off 40) and Pathum Nissanka (62 off 33) set the stage for a record chase of 226 runs, which was successfully completed by Tristan Stubbs (18*) and Ashutosh Sharma (25*) with five balls remaining.
Earlier, Riyan Parag showcased his skills with an impressive 90 off 50 balls, marking his first fifty-plus score of the season, while Donovan Ferreira contributed an unbeaten 47 off just 14 balls, helping RR to a total of 225/6 after choosing to bat first.
Parag anchored the innings alongside Dhruv Jurel (42) after early wickets fell, while Mitchell Starc (3/40) made significant contributions, including the wicket of the RR captain upon his return.
This victory represents DC's highest successful run chase in IPL history, concluding the match with five balls to spare.
With this win, DC secured their fourth victory of the season, placing them 6th in the points table, while RR remains in fourth place with six wins from ten matches.
This chase is also the second-highest successful chase against RR, following the 229 runs chased by SRH at the same venue earlier this season.
