Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 28: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are thrilled about the chance to collaborate closely with Australian all-rounder Cameron Green during the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season.
As three-time champions, KKR will launch their IPL 2026 journey against the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI), in a highly anticipated match in Mumbai on March 29.
Leading up to the tournament, discussions are centered around Green's role, batting order, and the expectations surrounding the franchise's significant investment of Rs 25.20 crores in him last year.
In a pre-match press briefing, Watson expressed his enthusiasm about joining KKR, particularly the opportunity to work closely with Green. Although they have had numerous discussions over the years, he is eager to support Green daily and assist him in reaching his objectives.
“There are many thrilling aspects of my arrival at KKR. One of the highlights is collaborating with Cameron Green. I’ve had several discussions with him over the years, but being able to aid him on his journey and support his development is something I’m genuinely looking forward to,” Watson stated.
Watson further remarked, “We witnessed his selection by the Mumbai Indians for a substantial amount, and he performed exceptionally well in the 2023 season. His mindset regarding the IPL is that he has nothing to lose. I don’t anticipate any changes in his approach. His training over the past few weeks has been impressive, and I believe his performance won’t be hindered by the price tag. He’s enthusiastic about embracing his new role.”
