Kolkata Knight Riders' Explosive Innings

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], May 16: In a thrilling Indian Premier League match, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showcased their batting prowess, amassing an impressive total of 247 for 2 against Gujarat Titans in Kolkata on Saturday.

Finn Allen was the star of the show, smashing a remarkable 93 runs off just 35 balls. Angkrish Raghuvanshi also made a significant contribution with a solid 82 runs from 44 deliveries, while Cameron Green added a quick-fire 52 runs off 28 balls to elevate KKR's score.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, KKR's opening pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen faced a disciplined start from Mohammed Siraj, who conceded only five runs in his opening over. Kagiso Rabada followed suit with a tight spell, allowing just eight runs.

However, Finn Allen quickly shifted the momentum, hitting back-to-back boundaries off Siraj and scoring 12 runs in the third over. He continued his assault on Rabada in the fourth over, launching two massive sixes. Siraj eventually struck back, dismissing KKR's captain Rahane for 14 runs, which brought Raghuvanshi to the crease.

This wicket marked a milestone for Mohammed Siraj, as he achieved 200 wickets in T20 cricket, becoming the 21st Indian bowler and the 11th fast bowler to reach this landmark.

Following Rahane's dismissal, Allen and Raghuvanshi formed a formidable partnership, aggressively targeting the Gujarat Titans' bowlers. By the halfway point, KKR had scored 116 for 1, with Allen not out on 71 and Raghuvanshi on 27. The pair added 95 runs in just 41 balls before Sai Kishore broke through, dismissing Allen for 93 runs, which is now the highest individual score for KKR against GT in IPL history.

With Allen's departure, Cameron Green joined Raghuvanshi, and together they propelled KKR past the 200-run mark in just 17 overs. Raghuvanshi continued his impressive form, achieving his fifth fifty of the IPL 2026 season.

He now ranks second for the most 50-plus scores in a single IPL season for KKR, joining Gautam Gambhir, who leads with six, while tying with Robin Uthappa at five.

In a remarkable display, Raghuvanshi took on Siraj in the 19th over, scoring 25 runs off him. At just 21 years old, he has emerged as a standout young talent in the IPL 2026 season, matching the achievements of Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who both have six 50-plus scores at the same age. He is also tied with Devdutt Padikkal, who also recorded five such scores in an IPL season at 21.

In the final over, Green and Raghuvanshi added 12 runs, leading KKR to a commanding total of 247 for 2.
