Anukul Roy's Optimism for Upcoming IPL Clash

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] April 25: Anukul Roy, the all-rounder for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is maintaining a positive outlook as they prepare for their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) this Sunday. Despite currently sitting at the bottom of the points table, he expressed the team's commitment to striving for victory.

After a challenging start with five consecutive losses, KKR finally secured their first win by defeating Rajasthan Royals by four wickets. They now hold the last position in the IPL 2026 standings, having achieved just one win out of seven matches, along with one no result.

During the pre-match press conference, Roy conveyed that the team is feeling confident ahead of the upcoming game. He noted improvements in both their bowling and batting departments, emphasizing their determination to perform at their best to clinch a win, as stated in a release from KKR.

“The team is very confident. The bowlers are doing well and the batting has also started doing well. We will try our best to win,” he remarked.

Roy acknowledged that KKR's strategies have not unfolded as planned in IPL 2026, with inconsistent performances placing them at the bottom of the table. Nevertheless, he expressed hope for a turnaround, focusing on winning as many remaining matches as possible.

“Whatever we want to do is not happening exactly the way we want right now. Results keep going up and down. We are trying to win as many matches as possible from here and things will get better for us,” he added.

In their last outing, KKR triumphed over RR by four wickets, with Roy contributing an unbeaten 29 runs off 16 balls in the chase of 156.

Feeling elated after his first win with the team, Anukul emphasized the importance of maintaining a calm mindset and staying focused. He stated, “It was my first win for the team, so I am feeling very good and very confident. I enjoyed it a lot. We played recently and then had a couple of days off, so I am feeling fresh and confident. We want to continue doing what we have been doing. We want to keep our mindset clear, stay calm and give 100 percent to the team. We don’t want to think too much,” the all-rounder concluded.
