KKR Sets Challenging Target of 193 Against RCB in IPL Clash
KKR's Strong Performance in Raipur
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 13: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showcased an impressive performance, scoring 192 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the star of the innings, scoring a stylish 71 runs off 46 balls, which included seven fours and three sixes. Rinku Singh also made a significant contribution, finishing with a quickfire 49 runs from 29 deliveries, featuring three boundaries and two sixes.
After being asked to bat first, KKR's opening pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen faced an early challenge. Allen struck 14 runs off Jacob Duffy in the second over but was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar shortly after, scoring 18 runs. This brought Angkrish Raghuvanshi to the crease.
Despite the early loss of wickets, Raghuvanshi and Rahane countered effectively, putting pressure on the RCB bowlers with a series of boundaries. However, Hazlewood ended Rahane's innings at 19, allowing Cameron Green to join Raghuvanshi.
At the end of the powerplay, KKR was at 56/2. Raghuvanshi and Green then formed a vital partnership, helping the team recover to 86/2 at the halfway point.
Green picked up the pace in the 12th over, hitting a six off Krunal Pandya to complete a 50-run partnership with Raghuvanshi. Unfortunately, Rasikh Salam Dar dismissed Green for 32 runs in the next over, bringing Rinku Singh to the crease.
Raghuvanshi reached his half-century in the 14th over, marking his fourth fifty of the season. At just 21 years old, he now holds the record for the most fifties by a KKR player in a single IPL season.
The duo continued to apply pressure on the RCB bowlers, leading KKR to 172/3 by the end of the 18th over. Josh Hazlewood bowled a disciplined 19th over, conceding only 10 runs.
In the final over, Rinku Singh hit a six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who managed to limit the scoring to just 10 runs in that over.
KKR concluded their innings at 192/4, setting RCB a target of 193 runs for victory. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, and Rasikh Salam Dar each took a wicket for RCB.
