Resignations Following a Tragic Incident

A Shankar and E S Jairam have stepped down from their roles as secretary and treasurer of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), respectively, in light of the tragic stampede that resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals during the IPL trophy celebrations for RCB.

In a joint announcement, both officials revealed that they submitted their resignations to the KSCA president on Thursday evening.

They stated, 'In light of the unforeseen and tragic events that have transpired over the past two days, and although our involvement was minimal, we have decided to resign from our positions as Secretary and Treasurer of the Karnataka State Cricket Association.'

KSCA president Raghuram Bhat, along with secretary Shankar and treasurer Jairam, informed the Karnataka High Court that the management of gates and crowd control was not under the association's purview, as they had requested permission to host the RCB IPL celebrations at Vidhan Soudha.

While the event at Vidhan Soudha went smoothly, chaos ensued outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where thousands gathered after RCB's social media invitation, which was later removed.

Although a victory parade was scrapped, the event inside the stadium continued despite the unfortunate events occurring outside.
