Jos Buttler Joins Elite 600 Six Club in T20 Cricket During IPL Match
Jos Buttler Achieves Milestone in IPL
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 8: In a remarkable display of power hitting, Jos Buttler of the Gujarat Titans (GT) has become the fifth player to reach the impressive milestone of 600 sixes in T20 cricket.
This achievement came during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where Buttler scored 52 runs off just 27 balls, including three fours and five sixes, boasting a strike rate of 192.59.
With this latest feat, Buttler joins an elite group of players, including Chris Gayle (1,056 sixes), Kieron Pollard (981 sixes), Andre Russell (784 sixes), and Nicholas Pooran (712 sixes), according to CricViz.
This performance marks a significant return to form for Buttler, who had not scored a half-century in his last 16 innings. His previous fifty was recorded during the SA20 season four while playing for the Durban Super Giants against the Pretoria Capitals in January 2026.
Buttler's T20 World Cup campaign was disappointing, as he managed only 87 runs across eight innings, averaging 10.87, with a top score of 26.
In the ongoing IPL 2026 season, he has accumulated 116 runs in three innings, averaging 38.66 with a strike rate exceeding 156, including one fifty.
In total, Buttler has played 20 T20 innings this year, scoring 422 runs at an average of 23.44 and a strike rate of 140.66, featuring two fifties and a highest score of 97 not out.
During the match, DC won the toss and chose to bowl first. After an early wicket of Sai Sudharsan (12), Buttler's partnership with Shubman Gill, which yielded 60 runs, helped GT regain momentum. Gill contributed significantly with 70 runs off 45 balls, supported by Washington Sundar's 55 runs from 32 balls, leading GT to a total of 210/4 in 20 overs.
Glenn Phillips (14* off nine balls) and Rahul Tewatia (1*) remained not out as GT set a challenging target. For DC, Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler with figures of 2/55, while Kuldeep Yadav and Lungi Ngidi each took one wicket.
