Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 14: Jasprit Bumrah is poised to make his debut as captain for the Mumbai Indians during their upcoming match against the Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium this Thursday.

Prior to the game, the Mumbai Indians took to Instagram to share a post featuring Bumrah, captioned with "Captain Jasprit." The post highlighted his journey, stating, "A kid with a unique action bowled yorkers at will. That same kid, now a legend of the game, will lead the Blue & Gold in Dharamshala. A journey to be proud of, Captain Jasprit!"

With regular captain Hardik Pandya sidelined due to a back spasm, the status of stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav remains uncertain following the recent birth of his daughter.

The Mumbai Indians are grappling with several injury concerns, including those affecting Pandya and Mitchell Santner. Additionally, both Will Jacks and Rohit Sharma have missed numerous matches due to injuries.

Having already been eliminated from playoff contention with just three victories in 11 matches, MI may look to utilize some of their lesser-known talents in this match, including Raj Angad Bawa, Danish Malewar, wicketkeeper Robin Minz, Krish Bhagat, and Raghu Sharma.
