Holder's Impact on Gujarat Titans

In Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans (GT) have seen a remarkable turnaround this IPL season, largely thanks to West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder. Since he joined the playing XI, the Titans have triumphed in five out of their last six matches, propelling them to the top of the league standings.


During a recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Holder showcased his skills by taking three wickets, helping to dismiss SRH for a mere 86 runs while they chased a target of 169.


According to CricViz statistics, Holder has claimed 13 wickets in just six matches, boasting an impressive average of 10.92, an economy rate of 6.35, and a strike rate of 10.3. These figures are the best this season among players who have bowled more than 15 overs.


With the bat, Holder has contributed 58 runs across five innings, averaging 19.33 with a strike rate exceeding 131, and his highest score being 23. In the match against SRH, he scored 11 runs off 10 balls, supporting Washington Sundar during the innings.


Additionally, Holder has excelled in the field, taking six catches in his six appearances.


He was brought into the playing XI against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after the team had a mixed start, winning and losing three matches each. His experience and all-round capabilities have significantly enhanced GT's performance.


In the match, SRH chose to bowl first, and GT found themselves at 26/2 early on. Sai Sudharsan played a crucial role, scoring 61 runs off 44 balls, while Nishant Sindhu and Washington Sundar contributed with 22 and 50 runs, respectively. GT finished their innings at 168/5, thanks to the fifties from Sudharsan and Sundar.


For SRH, Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain were effective bowlers, taking two wickets each, while skipper Pat Cummins had a solid spell of 1/20.


In response, Mohammed Siraj made an early breakthrough by dismissing Travis Head for a duck. Kagiso Rabada then dismantled SRH's top order, taking three wickets and leaving them at 32/4 within 6 overs.


Ultimately, it was Holder and Prasidh Krishna who wrapped up the innings, bowling SRH out for just 86 runs, with Cummins being the top scorer for SRH with 19 runs.


Rabada was named 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding performance during the powerplay.


With eight victories and four losses, GT leads the table with 16 points, while SRH has fallen to third place with seven wins and five losses, totaling 14 points.
