Jamshedpur FC's Impressive Win
Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) [India], April 25: In a thrilling encounter at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur FC showcased their strength by defeating Chennaiyin FC 4-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 on Saturday.
Sanan Mohammed's two goals, complemented by strikes from Raphaël Messi Bouli and Nikola Stojanovic, earned the home team three crucial points after five matches. This victory propelled them to fourth place in the league standings with 18 points, while Chennaiyin FC lingered in 10th position with nine points, as per the latest updates.
The Men of Steel set an aggressive tone right from the start, employing high pressing tactics that left Chennaiyin FC struggling to keep up, despite creating a few scoring opportunities. Jamshedpur's precise finishing made all the difference in a match where they capitalized on pivotal moments.
Jamshedpur began strongly, with Stojanovic and Madih Talal testing the Chennaiyin defense within the first minute. Chennaiyin nearly equalized quickly, but Irfan Yadwad's close-range header was expertly saved by Jamshedpur's goalkeeper, Albino Gomes.
The hosts opened the scoring in the seventh minute, thanks to Sanan. A well-executed play down the right flank saw Rosenberg Gabriel deliver a low cross into the box. Although Messi Bouli missed the connection, the ball landed at Sanan's feet, who finished from close range to give Jamshedpur an early lead.
Maintaining their momentum, Jamshedpur continued to press forward, creating chances through Talal and Stojanovic, both of whom came close to scoring from distance. Chennaiyin, however, remained a threat on counterattacks and were unfortunate not to equalize when Yadwad hit the post after a clever pass from Mandar Dessai.
In the 27th minute, Jamshedpur doubled their advantage. Nikhil Barla sent in a tempting cross from the left, and Messi Bouli rose to head the ball into the top corner, extending the lead to 2-0. The hosts continued to dominate, generating several opportunities before halftime but failed to increase their lead further.
Chennaiyin attempted to respond after the break, enjoying more possession early in the second half, but struggled to penetrate a resolute Jamshedpur defense, with Gomes making another crucial save to deny Daniel Chima.
Jamshedpur struck again in the 58th minute, effectively sealing the match. After a swift transition from a goal kick, Sanan found space behind the Chennaiyin defense, rounded the goalkeeper, and calmly slotted in his second goal of the night, making it 3-0.
Chennaiyin managed to pull one back in the 68th minute through Prakadeswaran S, who cut in from the right and curled a beautiful shot into the top corner, giving the visitors a glimmer of hope.
However, Jamshedpur quickly restored their three-goal lead ten minutes later. A well-coordinated move involving Rosenberg Gabriel and Rei Tachikawa saw the ball reach Stojanovic, who finished clinically from close range to make it 4-1.
Both teams continued to push for more goals in the final minutes, but neither could change the scoreline as Jamshedpur comfortably managed the match to secure their victory.
