IPL Auction to Take Place in Goa

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 23: Devajit Saikia, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), revealed on Wednesday that the auction for the 2027 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be conducted in Goa this December.

In a statement, Saikia noted that after hosting the IPL auctions in international locations such as Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi over the past three years, this year's event will return to India, specifically Goa.

“Following our previous auctions held abroad, we are excited to bring this year's auction back to India in Goa during December,” he stated.

In another update, the multi-day match between India A Women and Australia A Women, originally set to occur from September 29 to October 2, has been relocated from Dharamshala to Mohali. This change is due to the adverse effects of continuous rainfall on the playing surface and overall ground conditions.

The matches will now take place at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, which is currently hosting a three-match One-Day series between the two teams, as per the BCCI's announcement.

This venue adjustment follows India A Women’s successful four-wicket win in the opening One-Day match, where they chased down a target of 236 runs.

Regarding the venue change, the BCCI Secretary explained that the decision was made to ensure uninterrupted cricketing activities, given the ongoing unfavorable weather in Dharamshala.

“We have decided to move the upcoming T20 matches from Dharamshala to Mohali due to the persistent rainfall affecting the area. This decision was made to ensure that cricket can proceed without weather-related disruptions,” he added.
