IPL 2024: Sunil Narine Heroics Propel KKR to Second Highest Total in IPL History against DC
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on Wednesday (April 3), registered their highest ever score in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they posted a mammoth 272/2 against Delhi Capitals in the 16th game of IPL 2024. KKR captain Shreyas Iyer elected to bat first after winning the toss and his decision was fully justified by his teammates. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt added 60 runs for the first wicket in five overs before the latter sent back Enrich Nortgen for 18 runs. This was followed by a 104-run partnership between Narine and debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Narine top-scored for the two-time IPL champions, scoring 85 off just 39 balls with seven sixes and a four. On the other hand, Raghuvanshi scored 54 runs in 27 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. Andre Russell also played a decisive innings of 41 off 19 balls before Rinku Singh made a brilliant cameo of 25 off 8 balls.
KKR after their highest IPL total:
KKR eventually finished their innings on 272/7 to record their highest ever score in the IPL. Their previous highest score in the tournament was 245/6 which they scored against Punjab Kings in 2018. They fell short of the highest IPL score by just 5 runs. Earlier this season, Sunrisers Hyderabad broke Royal Challengers Bangalore's record by scoring 277/3 against Mumbai Indians.

During the same game, KKR also broke the record for most sixes in an IPL innings. They hit 18 sixes against DC, one more than their previous record which they set against Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
