Former Indian player Majoy Tiwary has made a bold prediction for the future of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. Manoj Tiwary feels that Rohit Sharma will get the captaincy again from Hardik Pandya. His words came after Mumbai Indians' back-to-back defeat in IPL 2024. Hardik Pandya parted ways with his former franchise Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024 to join his former team Mumbai Indians. After his addition to the MI squad, he was also named the captain for IPL 2024 in place of Rohit Sharma.
Notably, Rohit Sharma led the team from the 2013 season and won 5 titles for the team under his captaincy. However, unlike his former team Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya has failed to lead MI effectively in IPL 2024. Hardik Pandya and Co. have lost 3 matches in a row. They have moved to the last position in the IPL 2024 points table. Interestingly, Mumbai Indians is the only team that has not won a single match in IPL 2024.

During a chat on media , former KKR player Manoj Tiwary made a surprising prediction for Mumbai Indians. The 38-year-old feels that Rohit Sharma can be handed back the Mumbai Indians captaincy from Hardik Pandya. “Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma may be handed back. What I understand is that the owners of Mumbai Indians do not hesitate to take decisions. They made the call to take the captaincy from Rohit and give it to Hardik Pandya even though Rohit has won five IPL titles for them,” said the former right-arm batsman.
MI's captaincy has not been great: Manoj Tiwary
Manoj Tiwary, who represented Team India from 2008 to 2015, also believes that the change of captaincy from Hardik Pandey to Rohit Sharma is a big deal. He also attributed Mumbai Indians back to back defeats to his poor captaincy.
“Changing the captain is a big deal. They have not scored a single point this season. Captaincy is also all over the place, it is not just bad luck and captaincy has been very good, but it is not. The captaincy has not been great,” added Tiwary, who played 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is for India.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have suffered three major defeats early in IPL 2024. The Men-in-Blue lost their opening game against Gujarat Titans by 6 runs. Chasing 169, MI eventually fell short by 6 runs despite a brilliant start.
