So far in 13 matches, Dhoni has scored 136 runs at a strike rate of 226.26. In fact, his average of 68 is the best among all Chennai batsmen in the ongoing tournament. He has been dismissed only 2 times in IPL 2024. Dhoni has hit 12 sixes so far this season and Rayudu said his dedication to fitness and big-hitting has worked wonders.

“In the last 2 years, he has been working really hard in the gym. He puts on a lot of weight and spends a lot of time in recovery. He strives not to get injured and takes care of his muscles and body. Most importantly, I think, he is batting a lot and that is what drives him and he hits a lot of sixes in the nets,” Rayudu said.

MS Dhoni, CSK were felicitated
On Sunday, CSK became only the third team after KKR and MI to register 50 wins at their home ground. The Super Kings achieved this feat by defeating Sanju Samson's RR by 5 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Dhoni and other members of the Chennai team were then felicitated. Rayudu also said that Dhoni has achieved enough heights in his career to build a temple over him in Chennai. Further, he referred to him as the 'Lord of Chennai'.

“He is the God of Chennai and I am sure, temples of MS Dhoni will be built in Chennai in the years to come. He is the man who has led India to two World Cups and Chennai to many IPL and Champions League titles. He is just a guy who shows faith in his players, which he has always done for the team, for the country and for CSK,” Rayudu said. With CSK not yet in the playoffs, Dhoni will have a key role in Faf du Plessis's match against RCB on May 18 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
