RCB to play their first match against MI on April 2.
Just five days before the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore have unveiled their new jersey at the RCB Unbox event. Skipper Faf du Plessis was present during the launch along with Virat Kohli as the franchise announced Qatar Airways as their main sponsor for the upcoming season. Notably, they have changed the T-shirt pattern but other than that, there are no significant changes. However, the logo is gold in color while the track pants are once again red.
RCB honored Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers at the Unbox event
Apart from the jersey launch, RCB also honored two of their best performers in the history of the competition. Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers were inducted into the RCB Hall of Fame as both the cricketers along with the entire team and support staff greeted the fans present at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 26.
Apart from that, the fans also got a grand opportunity to watch the players train and take to the field. Later, skipper Faf du Plessis was also seen interacting with the crowd and clicking pictures and signing autographs for all his fans.Earlier in the day, Kohli was greeted with huge cheers by the fans as the 34-year-old returned to the Chinnaswamy Stadium in RCB colors for the first time in nearly four years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Kohli and Glenn Maxwell were later seen smiling after meeting each other as the video instantly went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, amidst all the positives, the team management will also have to keep an eye on Josh Hazlewood and Rajat Patidar. The latter is currently dealing with a heel injury and is likely to miss the first six to seven matches. On the other hand, there is no concrete update on Josh Hazlewood but the team has serious doubts about his injury. Apart from that, Wanindu Hasaranga will miss some games due to international commitments and will join the team in the second week of April.
