Hardik Pandya Rejoins Mumbai Indians

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 8: Mumbai Indians' captain and prominent all-rounder Hardik Pandya has rejoined his team in Raipur, gearing up for an important IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He had previously missed a game due to back spasms.

The franchise confirmed this news through a post on their official Instagram account, showcasing their captain Hardik.

In the last IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants, Suryakumar Yadav took over the captaincy in Hardik's absence.

Following Mumbai's impressive victory over LSG, Ryan Rickelton addressed inquiries regarding Hardik's condition during the post-match press conference.

"I am not sure when he will return. I learned this afternoon about his back spasms, so I cannot comment on the severity. I wouldn't label it as an injury; I am not aware of how serious it is or what he is experiencing. However, I am confident he will rejoin the team as we travel to Raipur this week," Rickelton stated.

A comprehensive training session is planned at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, where Pandya is anticipated to practice with the team on Friday.

The defending champions, RCB, are set to face the five-time champions in a highly anticipated match on Sunday evening.

Currently, the Mumbai Indians are struggling at the ninth position on the points table with three wins and seven losses, making it essential for them to secure victories in all remaining matches to maintain their slim chances of reaching the playoffs.

On the other hand, after their defeat to LSG in Lucknow, the Bengaluru franchise has slipped to third place, marking their fourth loss in the tournament.
