Gujarat Titans Captain Fined for Slow Over-Rate

New Delhi [India] April 20: Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, has faced a fine following his team's slow over-rate during match 35 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad, as reported by a leading sports news outlet.

This season, several captains have been penalized for similar infractions, including Hardik Pandya from the Mumbai Indians, Riyan Parag of the Rajasthan Royals, Rishabh Pant from the Lucknow Super Giants, Rajat Patidar of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sanju Samson of the Rajasthan Royals, and Axar Patel from the Delhi Capitals.

In a thrilling encounter at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, the Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a convincing seven-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC), thanks to an outstanding performance from Jos Buttler and his century partnership with Sherfane Rutherford.

Delhi Capitals set a challenging target of 204 runs, scoring 203/8, propelled by a strong start from KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel, along with a significant contribution from Ashutosh Sharma.

Gujarat Titans successfully chased down the target, with Buttler leading the charge with an explosive 97* off 54 balls, supported by Rutherford's 40 runs and a quick 11* from Rahul Tewatia.

Despite Delhi's efforts to contain the in-form Buttler, they struggled to find a solution. Rutherford, as an impact substitute, played a crucial role in shifting the momentum towards the Titans with his 40 runs off 30 balls.

Tewatia capped off the match with a spectacular six on the first ball of the final over, followed by a boundary that sealed the game, giving GT a 7-wicket victory.

With this win, the Gujarat Titans have climbed to the top of the points table with five victories in seven matches, pushing the Delhi Capitals down to second place after their second defeat.
