Gujarat Titans' Impressive Win

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], May 12: In a commanding performance, Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill praised his team's disciplined bowling and strategic execution following their 82-run triumph over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during their IPL 2026 match on Tuesday night.

During the post-match presentation, Gill expressed confidence in his team's bowling capabilities, especially after they set a challenging target of 168 runs.

“Our strategy paid off well. We bowled exceptionally. We believed that if we maintained our bowling quality, we would remain competitive. We discussed that reaching around 160-170 would make it tough for them against our bowling lineup,” Gill remarked.

He also acknowledged the vital contributions from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, who played crucial roles in helping the team recover from early challenges to achieve a respectable total.

“The way Sai and Washy batted to bring us close to 170, along with our bowling performance in the powerplay, deserves commendation,” he added.

Gill highlighted the significance of consistency and adaptability in the team's strategy this season.

“It's all about maintaining consistency and being ruthless. We are not confined to a specific style; we assess conditions and adapt our play accordingly,” he stated.

He also praised West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder for his experience and effectiveness with the ball.

“He is an incredibly seasoned player. His relentless bowling, especially four overs in a row, has been invaluable for us,” Gill noted.

On the other hand, GT fast bowler Kagiso Rabada attributed the team's success to disciplined execution and effective communication, earning him the Player of the Match title.

Reflecting on a missed catch off Ishan Kishan earlier in the innings, Rabada admitted he misjudged the ball's pace but was glad the team bounced back quickly.

“I didn’t react quickly enough and misjudged the pace. Fortunately, we secured the wicket in the next over,” he explained.

“Every season, my goal is to give my best. I have received support, and my role has been clear: to give everything for the team. Finding rhythm is crucial,” Rabada added.

He emphasized the need to adapt to the pitch conditions and bowl accordingly, stating, “We all have unique strengths, and it’s about maximizing them without overthinking. If something isn’t working, we can explore alternatives.”

Rabada further mentioned that the team's strategy on the Ahmedabad pitch was to bowl with the discipline typical of Test matches, which proved effective as the pitch slowed down.

“We learned how to bowl effectively on this surface, and we aimed to replicate that. The wicket became a bit sticky, and patience along with simplicity paid off,” Rabada concluded.

In the match, the Titans showcased a comprehensive performance, overpowering Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After being invited to bat first, GT scored a solid 168/5, with Sai Sudharsan contributing a pivotal 61 and Washington Sundar adding a brisk 50.

In response, SRH faced a severe batting collapse, getting bowled out for a mere 86 runs in 14.5 overs. Kagiso Rabada (3/28) and Jason Holder (3/20) spearheaded a formidable bowling attack, supported by Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Rashid Khan.
