BCCI Invites Armed Forces Chiefs to IPL 2025 Final

In a recent statement, Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, expressed his admiration for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for inviting the leaders of all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces to the IPL 2025 final, set to take place on June 3 in Ahmedabad.

The championship match will occur at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This season of the IPL faced a temporary halt on May 9 due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The BCCI's initiative aims to honor the achievements of Operation Sindoor.

Gambhir remarked on the BCCI's decision, stating, “This is an extraordinary move... The BCCI has taken a commendable step to unite the nation and pay tribute to our armed forces... I commend both the BCCI and the Armed Forces for their unwavering support and protection.”

Earlier, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia announced that invitations had been sent to the Chiefs of the Armed Forces, along with high-ranking officers and soldiers, for the IPL final on June 3 in Ahmedabad.

Operation Sindoor was India's strategic military response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Initiated on May 7, this operation resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

In IPL news, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured their position at the top of the table with a victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday.

The first qualifier is scheduled for May 29 in Mullanpur, where PBKS will face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Additionally, the eliminator featuring the Mumbai Indians (MI) will also take place in Mullanpur on May 30, where they will compete against the Gujarat Titans (GT).
