Star Players Join the ILT20 Fray
Dubai [UAE], August 11: The upcoming fifth season of the Dubai International League T20 is set to be electrifying with the addition of prominent T20 players Finn Allen, David Miller, and Heinrich Klaasen. These talented batters have been signed as Pre-Auction Signings for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Gulf Giants.
Finn Allen will represent Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, while David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen will play for the Gulf Giants. This season marks their first appearance in the ILT20, whereas Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis returns to the tournament after a three-year hiatus, joining the Dubai Capitals.
Returning icons from the previous season include Jason Holder and Sunil Narine (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders), Shimron Hetmyer (Desert Vipers), and others, who will continue with their respective franchises.
The Desert Vipers, the defending champions, have retained players Andries Gous and Dan Lawrence, while the Gulf Giants welcome back all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai and fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani.
On August 3, the six franchises completed their Pre-Auction Signings for foreign players, with each team allowed up to four signings. The final player selection will occur at the DP World ILT20 Season 5 Player Auction on October 1, 2026, in Dubai, where teams can add local and foreign players to their rosters, totaling between 18 and 23 players.
Finn Allen, known for his explosive batting, recently made headlines with a remarkable 33-ball century during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final against South Africa. With 1663 runs in 62 T20I matches at an impressive strike rate of 170.73, he is a player to watch.
David Miller, a seasoned middle-order batsman, has amassed 2804 T20I runs at an average of 33.78 over 140 matches for South Africa, showcasing his reliability in the format.
Heinrich Klaasen, another formidable player, has scored 1000 runs in 58 T20I matches and is renowned for his ability to dominate spin bowlers. With nearly 300 T20 appearances and close to 7000 runs, he remains a highly sought-after player.
Marcus Stoinis, a key figure in Australia’s white-ball teams for over a decade, has scored 1416 runs in 87 T20Is and taken 53 wickets, making him a valuable asset for the Dubai Capitals.
Other notable Pre-Auction Signings include USA's Matthew Tromp for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Afghanistan's Mujeeb-ur-Rahman for Desert Vipers, and several others across the franchises.
