East Bengal FC Dominates Odisha FC with 3-0 Victory in ISL Clash
East Bengal FC Secures Convincing Win Over Odisha FC
New Delhi [India], April 28 (Media House): East Bengal FC made a significant leap in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 standings, achieving a decisive 3-0 win against Odisha FC at the PJN Stadium in Goa on Tuesday.
Bipin Singh Thounaojam opened the scoring early, followed by two goals from Youssef Ezzejjari in the second half, sealing a comfortable victory for the Red and Gold Brigade.
This win elevates East Bengal FC to fourth place in the league table, accumulating 18 points from nine matches, while Odisha FC remains in 13th position with just six points. Bipin Singh earned the Man of the Match title for his impactful performance, contributing both a goal and an assist.
Coach Oscar Bruzon made three adjustments to his starting lineup, giving chances to Mohamad Rakip, Nandhakumar, and Anton Sjøberg. In contrast, Odisha FC's head coach T.G. Purushothaman brought in Anuj Kumar as goalkeeper and Ashangbam Aphaoba Singh in the attacking role.
The match began with East Bengal taking control, as Edmund Lalrindika nearly scored within the first three minutes. The breakthrough came in the 11th minute after sustained pressure; Lalrindika linked up well with PV Vishnu, whose clever run and cut-back found Bipin Singh unmarked at the far post, allowing him to tap in an easy goal.
East Bengal maintained dominance, consistently challenging Odisha's defensive setup. Vishnu posed a constant threat on the wing, while Nandhakumar and Saul Crespo created opportunities from the center. Odisha relied on sporadic counter-attacks, with Rahim Ali showing some promise, but East Bengal's goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill was seldom tested in the first half.
Despite a few late attempts from Odisha, including a sharp save from Gill to deny Rahim Ali, East Bengal went into halftime with a narrow yet comfortable lead.
The second half mirrored the first, with East Bengal controlling the game while Odisha struggled to find their rhythm. Rahim Ali came close to scoring for the visitors shortly after the hour mark, but his shot went wide.
East Bengal extended their lead in the 70th minute through a well-executed play. Vishnu delivered another dangerous cross, and although Anuj Kumar attempted to intervene, the ball fell to substitute Youssef Ezzejjari, who finished effortlessly.
Ezzejjari scored his second goal and East Bengal's third in the 84th minute. A precise pass from substitute Mawihmingthanga found Bipin Singh on the right, whose cut-back allowed Ezzejjari to slot the ball home easily, confirming the victory.
Odisha tried to respond late in the game but lacked the finishing touch, with their best opportunity coming from captain Carlos Delgado's header that went wide. East Bengal managed the final moments effectively to secure all three points.
