Excitement Builds for Delhi Premier League Season 3

The anticipation for the third season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) soared on Wednesday as the captains of all eight franchises gathered for the official pre-season press conference. The tournament is set to commence on July 31 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.


Organized by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), this month-long T20 league will run until August 30, showcasing some of the finest cricketing talent from Delhi in what is expected to be the most significant edition yet.


After a successful player auction earlier this month, the franchises have finalized their squads and are eager to kick off their campaigns, as noted in a press release from the DPL.


The opening match of the Delhi Premier League will feature Central Delhi Kings facing off against Purani Dilli 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on July 31.


This month-long tournament will conclude with the final match on August 30, where eight teams will compete for the prestigious DPL trophy.


Newly appointed captain of Purani Dilli 6, Anuj Rawat, expressed his excitement about leading the team. He stated, “It is a privilege to captain Purani Dilli 6. We have a well-balanced squad with a mix of experienced and young players. The atmosphere surrounding the league is fantastic, and we are eager to play in front of our home fans. Our goal is to play positive cricket and give our best in every match.”


Ayush Badoni, captain of South Delhi Superstarz, mentioned that the players are motivated to start strong. “The quality of cricket in the DPL has been exceptional, and every team appears competitive this season. We have prepared thoroughly and are excited to hit the field. We hope to entertain our fans and perform consistently throughout the tournament,” he said.


Ayush Doseja, vice-captain of the defending champions West Delhi Lions, emphasized the team's determination to maintain their winning streak. “Winning the title last season has boosted our confidence, but this is a new season with new challenges. Every team has strengthened its roster, so we know it won’t be easy. Our focus is on playing quality cricket and defending our championship,” he remarked.


Siddhant Sharma, captain of Outer Delhi Warriors, believes his team has what it takes to make a significant impact. “The team environment has been fantastic since the auction. Everyone is eager to contribute, and we have worked hard in preparation. We are excited to start the season and hope to make our supporters proud,” he stated.


Central Delhi Kings captain Yash Dhull highlighted the importance of consistency. “The DPL offers a wonderful platform for Delhi's cricketers to showcase their talent. We have built a strong unit, and our goal is to play fearless cricket while maintaining consistency throughout the tournament,” he said.


Mayank Rawat, captain of East Delhi Riders, expressed readiness for the challenges ahead. “There is immense excitement within the squad. Every player is motivated, and we look forward to competing against some of the best talent in Delhi. It promises to be an exciting tournament,” he noted.


Sarthak Ranjan, captain of North Delhi Strikers, remarked on the league's growth. “The standard of competition improves every year, making it even more thrilling. We are confident in our preparations and can’t wait to get started. Our focus is on playing disciplined and aggressive cricket,” he said.


Himmat Singh, captain of New Delhi Tigers, assured fans of high-quality cricket throughout the tournament. “The DPL has established itself as one of the premier domestic T20 leagues in the country. All teams are well-balanced, and the competition will be fierce. We are eager to begin our campaign and give the fans plenty to cheer about,” he stated.


With captains expressing their confidence and enthusiasm ahead of the new season, the stage is set for another thrilling edition of the Delhi Premier League.
