Munaf Patel Stresses Importance of Full Commitment

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India] - April 30: Munaf Patel, the bowling coach for Delhi Capitals (DC), has highlighted the necessity for the team to adopt a "100 percent" mindset in critical matches, especially as they face elimination from IPL 2026.

As DC prepares to take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) this Friday, they find themselves in a challenging position, having lost five out of their eight matches, placing them seventh in the points standings.

In their previous two games, DC encountered starkly different outcomes. They scored an impressive 264 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) but still fell short as PBKS successfully chased the target with seven balls remaining. Conversely, in their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, DC's batting lineup struggled significantly, collapsing for a mere 75 runs in 16.3 overs, allowing RCB to secure victory by nine wickets in just 6.3 overs.

With only three wins from eight games, DC faces a tough challenge ahead if they wish to secure a spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs. Currently, they sit at seventh place with six points, and with six matches left, their goal is to maximize their wins to keep playoff hopes alive.

Before the match against RR, Munaf Patel stated, "In do-or-die situations, we must approach the game with full commitment. Losing even one or two more games could mean elimination from the tournament. Therefore, as a team, we need to give our all. Otherwise, survival becomes extremely challenging," as reported by a release from Delhi Capitals.

He further emphasized that DC will concentrate on executing "good cricket" to maintain control of the game and learn from past errors. "Our strategy will remain consistent. We will strive to give our best and focus on playing quality cricket. Regardless of whether we bat or bowl first, our aim is to manage the game effectively and reduce mistakes. We will play to win without overthinking the outcome. If we perform well, the results will follow," he concluded.
