Munaf Patel Commends Auqib Nabi's Dedication

New Delhi, April 7: Munaf Patel, the bowling coach for Delhi Capitals, has expressed admiration for Auqib Nabi, a young pacer from Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing his discipline and strong work ethic during his inaugural season in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

During a press conference prior to the match against Gujarat Titans, Patel noted Nabi's impressive focus and maturity on the field.

"He is a disciplined and patient bowler with a commendable work ethic. Even though this is his first IPL season, he remains unfazed by the surrounding glamour. He is always keen to bowl extra in practice sessions; at times, we have to tell him to take a break," Patel remarked.

Patel acknowledged the difficulties players face when moving from domestic cricket to the IPL, where the competition is notably tougher. "The gap between domestic cricket and the IPL is significant, as even well-executed deliveries can be hit for runs. He is striving to become a well-rounded player," he added.

He also highlighted Nabi's outstanding performance in the recent Ranji Trophy season, stating, "Achieving success in the Ranji season with Jammu and Kashmir is a remarkable feat. The IPL presents a different set of challenges. We are making sure he stays prepared, as not every bowler will participate in every match," Patel explained.

Patel hinted that Nabi might be utilized as an impact player when necessary. "He could serve as an impact player when the situation demands it. We are ensuring he is ready for whenever that opportunity arises," he concluded.

Currently, Delhi Capitals have won both of their matches and are sitting fourth in the IPL 2026 points table, boasting a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.170.
