Delhi Capitals Gear Up for IPL 2026 Opener Against Lucknow Super Giants
Excitement Builds for IPL 2026
New Delhi, March 28: The captain of Delhi Capitals, Axar Patel, along with star bowler Kuldeep Yadav, shared their enthusiasm as the team prepares for its first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 1 in Lucknow.
Axar Patel expressed that the team is "very excited" about the upcoming season.
He mentioned, "This is a new squad. While most players are returning from last season, we are thrilled about the journey ahead and are eager to get started," during an event in New Delhi marking the renewal of the DP World-Delhi Capitals global logistics partnership.
Patel highlighted that while the players on the field receive the recognition, the team's achievements are a result of the combined efforts of both the players and the support staff. He emphasized that winning a tournament requires a unified team effort.
He stated, "As a leader, it's clear that the success of the 11 players on the field is visible to everyone. However, we must acknowledge the hard work of our support staff behind the scenes. Winning as a team is crucial; individual brilliance can shine in a few matches, but to secure the tournament, a collective effort is essential."
Kuldeep Yadav also shared his excitement about returning to practice, noting that the team's focus is now firmly on the IPL.
"The attention now shifts to the IPL, and it's wonderful to see my teammates training hard. It's great to be back," Kuldeep Yadav remarked.
The Delhi Capitals will kick off their IPL 2026 journey against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 1.
