Dominant Performance by Delhi Capitals

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India] - In a thrilling IPL 2026 encounter at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, the Delhi Capitals (DC) showcased an impressive batting performance, securing a commanding seven-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Friday.

Facing a formidable target of 226 runs, DC accomplished their highest successful chase in IPL history, eclipsing their previous best efforts.

This chase of 226 runs now stands as their most significant achievement, surpassing their earlier record of 210 runs against Lucknow Super Giants in 2025, 209 runs against Gujarat Lions in 2017, and 207 runs against Punjab Kings in 2025.

Additionally, this chase marks the second-highest successful pursuit against the Rajasthan Royals, trailing only the 229-run chase by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the same venue earlier this season, highlighting the favorable batting conditions in Jaipur.

The outcome further emphasizes the struggles faced by RR at home, as they have lost six of their last seven matches at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium since 2025.

This match also reflects a growing trend in IPL 2026, where high-scoring chases are becoming more frequent. While only five successful chases of 220 or more occurred between 2008 and 2025, the current season has already seen seven such instances.

On an individual level, KL Rahul continued his stellar performance in the league, earning his 17th Player of the Match award, placing him among the top Indian players in this category. Rohit Sharma leads with 21 awards, followed by Virat Kohli (20), MS Dhoni (18), and Ravindra Jadeja (17).

For the Rajasthan Royals, it was a challenging day with the ball. England's Jofra Archer had a tough outing, giving away 46 runs, marking his most expensive performance of the IPL season.

The match began with a sensational 110-run opening partnership between Rahul (75 off 40) and Pathum Nissanka (62 off 33), setting the stage for the record chase, which was ultimately completed by Tristan Stubbs (18*) and Ashutosh Sharma (25*) with five balls remaining.

Earlier, Riyan Parag led RR's innings with a remarkable 90 runs off 50 balls, marking his first fifty-plus score of the season, while Donovan Ferreira contributed an unbeaten 47 runs off just 14 balls, helping RR to a total of 225/6 after choosing to bat first.

Parag steadied the innings alongside Dhruv Jurel (42) after early setbacks, while Mitchell Starc (3/40) made crucial breakthroughs, including the wicket of the RR skipper, upon his return.
