DDCA Seeks Change of Venue for Upcoming ODI

The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has formally approached the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to relocate the ODI match between India and Sri Lanka, as per a source from the association.

Sri Lanka is set to visit India next month for a series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is. The first ODI is scheduled for December 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, followed by matches in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.

However, a DDCA insider has indicated that the association has urged the BCCI to move the match due to ongoing renovations at the ground and adverse weather conditions expected in Delhi during December, which could hinder the hosting of the ODI.

“We have officially informed the BCCI that we are unable to host the India vs Sri Lanka ODI on December 13 because our ground is undergoing renovations, and we also face weather challenges in that month. Currently, we are not equipped to organize a match in December. We have communicated this to the board. Let’s see what decision is made, but as of now, we cannot host that ODI,” the DDCA source stated.

Following the ODIs, India and Sri Lanka will compete in a three-match T20I series, with games planned in Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune.

Meanwhile, Team India is currently in New Zealand after clinching a 3-2 victory in the five-match T20I series. The squad, led by Shubman Gill, is set to face the hosts in a five-match ODI series starting at Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday, followed by a two-match Test series.
