David Miller Reflects on His Iconic IPL Knock and Career Highlights
Miller's Memorable IPL Performance
In a recent interview, South African cricketer David Miller shared that his unbeaten 101 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) stands out as his proudest achievement in the tournament. He emphasized that this high-pressure chase significantly influenced his career trajectory.
Currently playing for Southern Brave in The Hundred 2026, Miller reminisced about his career and notable IPL moments while speaking with JioStar. Over a decade-long career, the left-handed batsman has become one of the most reliable middle-order finishers in T20 cricket.
Miller stated, "The 101 I scored against RCB was particularly special because it was my first hundred in both the IPL and T20 cricket, achieved while chasing a target. Looking back, it was a pivotal moment in my career. Another memorable innings was in Durban against Australia, where I scored 118 not out while chasing again. Both innings under pressure will always be significant for me."
His remarkable 101 came off just 38 deliveries for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and is regarded as one of the standout innings of his IPL journey, establishing him as a formidable middle-order player.
Miller expressed pride in his ability to finish innings, stating, "Building a career around middle-order batting and finishing games is something I cherish. It requires time to master, and I continue to learn, but I have enjoyed the challenge of chasing down targets."
Since debuting in 2012, Miller has participated in 15 IPL seasons, representing teams like Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, and Delhi Capitals. He holds the record for the most IPL seasons played by a South African.
His standout season was with Gujarat Titans in 2022, where he played a crucial role in their title-winning campaign, contributing significantly to their success.
When asked about his favorite IPL memory, Miller highlighted the championship win with Gujarat Titans, saying, "Winning the IPL for Gujarat Titans is definitely my favorite moment, as we play to win."
Throughout his IPL career, Miller has amassed 3,288 runs in 152 matches, becoming synonymous with explosive late-innings performances and successful chases.
In The Hundred 2026, he has scored 166 runs in eight matches for Southern Brave, although the team did not advance to the knockout stages. At 37, Miller continues to play a vital role in T20 leagues globally.
