CSK Secures Victory Against DC

New Delhi [India], May 5: In a thrilling IPL 2026 match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged victorious against Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets on Tuesday night, thanks to stellar performances from Sanju Samson and Kartik Sharma.

CSK's bowlers, including Noor Ahmed (2/22 in 3 overs), Akeal Hosein (1/19 in 4 overs), and Gurjapneet Singh (1/29 in 4 overs), effectively limited DC to a total of 155 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs. In response, Samson scored an impressive 87 not out off 52 balls, while Sharma contributed 31 runs off 31 balls, forming an unbeaten partnership of 114 runs that propelled CSK to victory.

This win keeps CSK's hopes for the IPL 2026 playoffs alive, placing them sixth on the points table with five wins and five losses from ten matches, with four more games remaining.

Chasing a target of 156, CSK started cautiously but lost captain Ruturaj Gaikwad early to Lungi Ngidi (1/30 in 4 overs), leaving them at 24/1 after four overs. Urvil Patel then hit two sixes in the sixth over, bringing CSK to 44/1 at the end of the Powerplay. However, he was dismissed shortly after, stumped by Axar Patel, leaving CSK at 49/2.

From that point on, Samson and Sharma took control, with Samson reaching his fifty in just 32 balls during the 12th over. The duo continued to dominate, with Samson hitting two sixes and a four in the 15th over, pushing CSK to 126/2.

Sharma sealed the match for CSK with a six and a four, leading the team to an eight-wicket victory with 15 balls to spare.

Earlier, DC opted to bat first, with Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul starting steadily. Nissanka hit two fours off Akeal Hosein but was dismissed for 19 runs. KL Rahul followed soon after, caught by Gaikwad off Hosein's bowling, leaving DC at 36/2 in 5.1 overs.

DC struggled to build momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. Noor Ahmed's bowling proved effective, taking out key players and leaving DC at 62/4 halfway through their innings. Despite some late resistance, including a cameo from Sameer, DC could only muster 155 runs.

Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmed were the standout bowlers for CSK, with Ahmed taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in just 2 overs.
