Opting to bat first, the team led by Ruturaj Gaikwad faced an early setback, losing their first wicket in the second over when Sanju Samson was dismissed for just seven runs, caught behind off the bowling of Xavier Bartlett.

Coming in at number three, Ayush Mhatre formed a crucial partnership, adding 96 runs for the second wicket alongside his captain. He achieved his first half-century of the season in a brisk 31 balls, showcasing aggressive batting by targeting Marcus Stoinis, hitting him for two sixes.

The 18-year-old finished with an impressive 73 runs off 43 deliveries, which included six fours and five sixes.

Gaikwad, despite a promising start, could only manage 28 runs from 22 balls before being caught by Nehal Wadhera off Yuzvendra Chahal's bowling.

Kartik Sharma struggled again, scoring just one run before being dismissed by Marco Jansen.

Sarfaraz Khan made a quick impact with a score of 32 runs off just 12 balls, hitting six fours and a six.

Shivam Dube then took charge, remaining unbeaten on 45 runs from 27 balls, which included five fours and a six.

Prashant Veer also contributed with a not out score of six runs, helping CSK to post a significant total of 209 runs.

For Punjab Kings, Vijaykumar Vyshak was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 38 runs. Chahal, Jansen, and Bartlett each claimed one wicket.

Punjab Kings now require 210 runs to secure their second consecutive victory of the season, while CSK aims for their first win after losing their opening match against the Rajasthan Royals.
