CSK's Batting Brilliance Shines in IPL 2026

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India] - In a thrilling encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) showcased an impressive batting display after being invited to bat first by the Delhi Capitals (DC) during their IPL 2026 match.

With a remarkable unbeaten century from Sanju Samson and solid contributions from Ayush Mhatre, CSK amassed a formidable total of 212 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, putting immediate pressure on the Delhi Capitals.

CSK began their innings confidently, with openers Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad putting together a partnership that saw them score 27 runs without loss in the first three overs. By the end of the powerplay, they had advanced to 61 runs without losing a wicket, with Samson leading the charge.

However, the breakthrough for DC came in the seventh over when CSK captain Gaikwad was dismissed by Axar Patel. Despite this, CSK maintained their momentum as Samson took charge, displaying an array of powerful strokes.

Samson reached his half-century in just 26 balls during the ninth over, and by the end of the tenth over, CSK had posted 88 runs for the loss of 1 wicket.

Kuldeep Yadav faced a tough time as CSK surged to 119 runs after 12 overs, with Mhatre also reaching his fifty in 27 balls, marking his third half-century in the IPL.

As the innings progressed, the partnership between Samson and Mhatre flourished, leading CSK to a commanding score of 160 runs after 15 overs. Notably, Samson also achieved the milestone of 400 sixes in T20 cricket, becoming the fourth Indian to do so.

In a spectacular display, Samson completed his fourth IPL century and the first for CSK, reaching the landmark in just 52 balls. This century was the second by a CSK player against DC in IPL history, following Murali Vijay's 113 runs in a 2012 qualifying match at the same venue.

Mhatre, who played a crucial role, retired after scoring 59 runs off 36 balls, which included three fours and four sixes.

His partnership with Samson was instrumental in navigating through the middle overs, as they kept the DC bowlers, including Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan, and Lungi Ngidi, under pressure.

In the final overs, Samson remained unbeaten at 115 runs from 56 balls, featuring 15 fours and four sixes, while Shivam Dube contributed a quick 20 runs off 10 balls. CSK concluded their innings with a commanding score of 212 runs for 2 wickets. Axar Patel was the only wicket-taker for Delhi Capitals.
