Bhuvneshwar Kumar Makes IPL History

In a remarkable achievement, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer, etched his name in the IPL record books by becoming the second bowler overall and the first fast bowler to reach 200 wickets. This milestone was accomplished during the IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday when he dismissed batter Ayush Mhatre.

Bhuvneshwar now stands as the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL history, joining Yuzvendra Chahal in the exclusive 200 wickets club. He has secured 200 wickets across 192 matches, maintaining an average of 27.25. In contrast, Chahal leads with 224 wickets from 176 matches at an impressive average of 22.68. Following them is Sunil Narine, who has taken 193 wickets in 191 IPL matches.

The pivotal moment for Bhuvneshwar came when he bowled a well-placed delivery outside off stump, which crammed Mhatre on the pull shot, leading to a catch at mid-off by Rajat Patidar.

In the same IPL 2026 match, RCB showcased an exceptional batting performance, amassing a staggering total of 250 runs for 3 wickets against CSK at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The innings began with solid contributions from Virat Kohli (28 runs off 18 balls) and Phil Salt (46 runs off 30 balls), but it was the explosive batting from Devdutt Padikkal (50 runs off 29 balls), captain Rajat Patidar (48 not out off 19 balls), and Tim David (70 not out off 25 balls) that propelled the team to a formidable score.

RCB's batting accelerated significantly during the middle and death overs, with Padikkal and Patidar building crucial momentum. The duo formed an unbeaten partnership of 99 runs in just 35 balls, with David's late fireworks, including eight sixes, helping the team reach 250 runs in 20 overs, contributing to a total of 19 sixes in the match.
