Arshad Khan Highlights the Impact of Veteran Players on Young Talent in IPL
The Influence of Experienced Players on Young Cricketers
New Delhi, April 18: Arshad Khan, an all-rounder for the Gujarat Titans (GT), has pointed out that having seasoned international players like Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, and Kagiso Rabada in the squad significantly aids the development of younger players during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In a conversation, the 28-year-old shared that being surrounded by accomplished teammates such as Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna, along with coach Ashish Nehra, provides invaluable learning experiences that can shape their future careers.
“When you have such talented minds in your team, there’s so much to learn. Players like Shubman, Rashid, and Rabada bring a wealth of knowledge and a positive mentality. We gain a lot from them, including insights from Siraj and Prasidh, as well as our coach, Nehra ji. Their guidance is crucial for our career development,” he stated.
Although Arshad has not yet made it to the playing eleven for GT in the ongoing IPL 2026 season, he emphasized that the league offers exceptional facilities, practice environments, and competitive scenarios that keep players prepared for future chances.
“Our squad consists of 25 players, but only 11 can play. The remaining players can still enhance their skills. The IPL provides unmatched facilities, excellent grounds, and quality practice conditions. With access to net bowlers and skilled batsmen, we have everything we need to improve. This preparation ensures that when an opportunity arises, we are ready to seize it, whether this season or the next,” he explained.
After starting their IPL 2026 campaign with two losses, the Gujarat Titans bounced back with three consecutive wins. When asked about any changes in team dynamics following the initial defeats, Arshad noted that the team’s environment and preparation have remained consistently positive.
“From our first match to now, the atmosphere has been great. It has remained consistent throughout all our matches. The way we prepare has not changed, and the dressing room vibe is the same in every game,” he remarked.
Currently, GT sits fifth in the IPL 2026 points table with six points from five matches and is set to face the Mumbai Indians next on Monday.
