Ajinkya Rahane's 200th IPL Match Ends in Disappointment for KKR
Rahane's Milestone Match
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India] - On April 2, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane marked his 200th appearance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but struggled to make an impact, managing only eight runs during a challenging chase.
In the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rahane became the 11th player to reach this milestone, yet his performance was lackluster as he scored just eight runs off ten balls before being dismissed by Jayden Unadkat with a poor shot selection.
Despite this setback, Rahane holds the distinction of being the ninth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, amassing 5,107 runs across 185 innings with an average of 30.58 and a strike rate of 125.32, including two centuries and 34 fifties, with a top score of 105 not out.
In his IPL career, he has accumulated 598 runs in 22 matches and 21 innings, averaging 29.90 with a strike rate exceeding 135, featuring four fifties, and his highest score being 67.
During the match, KKR chose to bowl first. SRH's opening partnership between Travis Head (46 runs off 21 balls, including six fours and three sixes) and Abhishek (48 runs off 21 balls, with four boundaries and four sixes) set a solid foundation, although they later faltered to 118/4.
Heinrich Klaasen contributed significantly with 52 runs off 35 balls, supported by Nitish Kumar Reddy's 39 runs off 24 balls, as they formed an 82-run partnership for the fifth wicket, leading SRH to a total of 226/8 in their 20 overs.
Blessing Muzarabani was the standout bowler for KKR, taking 4 wickets for 41 runs, while Vaibhav Arora (2/47), Kartik Tyagi (1/48), and Anukul Roy (1/16) also claimed wickets.
