IPL Match Relocation: Punjab Kings vs. Mumbai Indians Moves to Ahmedabad Amid Security Concerns

Match Shifted Due to Airport Closure
The IPL clash between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally set for May 11 in Dharamsala, has been relocated to Ahmedabad due to the closure of the local airport following military operations targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan.
Anil Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), confirmed this change to a news agency. The match is now scheduled for the afternoon.
Patel stated, "The BCCI reached out to us, and we agreed to the venue change. The Mumbai Indians will arrive later today, while the travel arrangements for Punjab Kings will be determined soon."
On Thursday, Punjab Kings are set to face Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala.
The airport in Dharamsala has been closed for commercial flights until at least May 10 due to India's military actions against terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
It remains uncertain how both Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will be transported out of Dharamsala with flight operations halted. Additionally, with Chandigarh airport also closed, teams will need to find alternative routes to Delhi.
Delhi Capitals are also scheduled to play on May 11 against Gujarat Titans at their home ground.
A representative from Punjab Kings mentioned that they have not yet received official communication from the BCCI regarding the venue change.
"We are still waiting for information from the BCCI. We can only finalize our travel plans once we have complete clarity," the official added.
Currently, Punjab Kings are aiming to reach the IPL play-offs for the first time since 2014.
