The IPL 2026 season is well underway, yet the venues for the playoffs remain uncertain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has hinted that a significant announcement regarding this matter will be made shortly. The schedule for the league stage of IPL 2026 was released in two phases due to the election dates in Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu, which necessitated the staggered announcement. However, the playoff schedule has yet to be revealed, and a crucial update from the BCCI has emerged.

BCCI to Make Announcement Soon

Devjeet Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI, stated that the board is currently working on finalizing suitable locations for the playoffs and the final match, with clarity expected in the next couple of days. He refrained from confirming any potential venues, suggesting that speculations should continue as a decision will be made soon.

It's noteworthy that last season also saw several venue changes. Some matches were shifted to the Mullanpur Stadium, while the final initially scheduled at Eden Gardens could not take place due to scheduling conflicts, leading to the final being held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Final Scheduled for May 31

The final of the current IPL 2026 season is set to take place on May 31, with playoff matches expected to commence on May 26. All eyes are on the BCCI's final decision, which is anticipated to be announced soon. It is speculated that Qualifier 1 will occur on May 26, followed by the Eliminator on May 27, with Qualifier 2 on May 29 and the final on May 31.
