Tribute to Terror Attack Victims in IPL Match

In Hyderabad, Telangana, during the IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, players and umpires will don black armbands to honor the victims of the recent terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.


Currently, the Mumbai Indians are positioned sixth in the points table, having achieved four victories against four defeats, indicating a steady performance as the season unfolds. On the other hand, SRH is struggling in ninth place, with only two wins out of seven matches. Despite this, coach Helmot remains hopeful about his team's prospects.


A source from the BCCI stated, “In today’s match, players and umpires will wear black armbands. There will be a minute of silence before the game begins, and there will be no cheerleaders or fireworks during the event.”


In response to the attack, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have initiated a search operation in the Baisran area of Pahalgam to apprehend those responsible. Additionally, the Delhi Police has been directed to monitor tourist spots and other significant locations closely.


Following the attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level security meeting with various agencies. He arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday evening for a security review, emphasizing that those behind this heinous act will face consequences.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi, upon returning from Saudi Arabia, held a briefing at Palam Airport with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and other officials to discuss the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam.


PM Modi had to cut short his two-day state visit to Saudi Arabia, which was at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, due to the attack.
