IPL 2025 Season Launch and WTC Final Impact

The 18th season of the IPL is set to commence soon, starting with the match between RCB and KKR on May 17. The final showdown is scheduled for June 3. However, Cricket South Africa has thrown a wrench into the plans by requesting players involved in the World Test Championship to return by May 26. This decision affects six teams, including Mumbai Indians, RCB, Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings, all of which are vying for playoff spots.




The ICC World Test Championship final will feature a clash between Australia and South Africa, taking place at Lord's from June 11 to 15. Cricket South Africa has instructed its squad members to return by May 26 to ensure they have ample time to prepare for the WTC final.




In total, there are 20 South African players participating in IPL 2025 across various teams, with 8 of them being part of the WTC final squad. Notably, two of these players are on the Mumbai Indians roster.
