IPL 2025 Match Shifted to Ahmedabad Amid Security Concerns

Change of Venue for IPL 2025 Match
The IPL 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings is set to be moved from Dharamshala to Ahmedabad. The match is now expected to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium rather than the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium.
This venue change follows the Indian Army's Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. As a result, several airports in Northern India, including those in Dharamshala and Chandigarh, have been closed for security reasons until May 10.
The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) has confirmed its readiness to host the match in Ahmedabad. GCA Secretary Anil Patel indicated that the venue switch was necessitated by these security issues.
Despite the venue change, the match is still scheduled for May 11. However, the Punjab Kings will need to travel by road to Delhi before flying to Ahmedabad, as flights from nearby airports are unavailable.
Prior to this match, the Punjab Kings are set to face the Delhi Capitals on May 8 at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. Since both teams are already in the area, travel for that game should not pose any issues.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) consulted with the GCA and quickly made the decision to change the venue. Ahmedabad has been identified as the safest option for hosting the match. While an official announcement is pending, it is highly likely that the game between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians will occur in Ahmedabad.
