New Delhi witnessed thrilling action on June 22 as the third day of the 26th Asian Senior Fencing Championships unfolded at Bharat Mandapam. This event serves as a crucial qualifier for the upcoming Asian Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Japan continued to shine, with Kyosuke Matsuyama securing the gold in men's foil, while Irina Bakaldina made history by winning Kazakhstan's inaugural individual women's epee title.

Promising Performances from Indian Fencers

The young Indian team showcased commendable performances on their home turf. In the Women's Epee, Prachi Lohan led the way with a 22nd-place finish, followed closely by Taniksha Khatri in 29th. Mitva Jesangbhai Chaudhari and Yashkeerat Kaur Hayer finished 35th and 43rd, respectively. On the Men's Foil side, Sachin Sachin led the Indian contingent in 25th place, while Sanasam Hemash Singh, Tejas Manoj Patil, and Aditya Aditya finished 37th, 47th, and 57th, respectively.
